Position Overview

The Hospital Inmate Security Officer is responsible for providing stationary security coverage for inmates receiving medical care in a hospital setting. This role requires a high level of alertness, professionalism, and sound judgment to ensure the safety of hospital staff, patients, visitors, and the public while maintaining secure supervision of the inmate in accordance with established procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain constant visual observation of the inmate at all times

  • Ensure the inmate remains properly secured in accordance with policy

  • Control and monitor access to the inmate’s hospital room

  • Maintain a professional, calm, and authoritative presence

  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, behavioral issues, or security concerns

  • Communicate effectively with hospital staff, supervisors, and dispatch

  • Complete detailed activity logs and incident reports

  • Follow all hospital, company, and correctional facility policies and procedures

  • Remain attentive and alert during extended stationary assignments


Qualifications

  • Prior security, law enforcement, military, or correctional experience preferred

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while maintaining alertness

  • Strong observation, communication, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure environments

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

  • Must meet all state and company certification requirements

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods

  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations
